8th Summit for Space Sustainability

The 8th Summit for Space Sustainability will take place on November 4–5, 2026, in Brasília, Brazil. The event is co-hosted by the Secure World Foundation (SWF) and the Brazilian Space Agency (AEB).

The Summit will be a high-level international forum focused on advancing solutions for the long-term sustainability of space activities. It will bring together government representatives, experts, policy-makers, and space industry leaders from different regions.

The program will include keynote addresses, panel discussions, and interactive sessions covering international best practices, the benefits of space applications, cooperation for sustainability, security and safety, policy development, and the sustainable exploration of the Moon and Mars.

The Brazilian Space Agency (AEB), in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), is announcing an opportunity for a Digital Entrepreneurship and Space Technologies Consultant to work with the Future Tech Leaders Programme in Brazil. The selected professional will be responsible for developing and delivering the programme’s Digital Entrepreneurship modules and pre-incubation initiative. Activities include content development, training sessions and mentoring related to digital entrepreneurship and space technologies. The consultancy will be conducted remotely, with possible travel, and will require approximately 30 working days between August and December 2026. Fluency in Portuguese and English is required. Proposals must be submitted through the UNDP Quantum portal by July 23, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. New York time — 11:00 a.m. Brasília time.

haCARthon Opens Applications for Innovative Solutions to Strengthen Brazil’s Rural Environmental Registry

Applications are open for haCARthon – Solutions Marathon for the Rural Environmental Registry, an open innovation initiative focused on developing technological solutions to strengthen Brazil’s Rural Environmental Registry and SICAR system. The virtual marathon will address challenges such as simplifying the registration process, improving geospatial reference data, and supporting better access to Brazilian environmental legislation. Applications are open until June 25, 2026, and the top five solutions will each receive BRL 15,000, totaling BRL 75,000 in awards.
